The Municipal Traffic Department President Epitácio reported that after the beginning of the electric mopeds and bicycle registration have been registered 85 vehicles. Only this Monday (15) were 18. According to the director of the organ Nelson Righetti Tavares since the implementation of the measure, the traffic has become more organized.
In the city, according to Tavares, there are about 5 thousand bicycles, so the requirement for owners to comply with the law has a term of one year, until August 21, 2015. “There are many vehicles to be registered, so that all Can be met, 40 passwords are delivered daily. Those who already had the bikes, will have this period to suit. Those who buy for now, the deadline is 30 days to regularize the documentation,”he said.
Of the 40 passwords delivered, not all can be met due to some pending issues.”Sometimes documents are missing, or the invoice is not in the name of the person, so you have to have the time for the owners to get regularized,” he said.
In order to be regularized, electric bicycles must comply with the following prerequisites: maximum power of up to 350 watts, maximum speed of 25 km / h, speed indicator, horn, front headlight in white or yellow, red flashlight, Rear-view mirrors on both sides and a brake system and tires that offer minimum safety conditions according to CYCLINGENTHUSIASM.COM.
The driver must be over 18 years old and have an identity card to use the vehicle. It is also mandatory to wear a bicycle helmet and have the electronic bicycle register in possession with the Municipal Traffic Department.
The City Council approved the law with new regulations to use electric bicycles unanimously on August 18 during an ordinary session. The law, drafted by the Executive, has been amended and must be sanctioned by Mayor Sidnei Caio da Silva Junqueira.
